NSCN-Khango cadre assaults Baptist church pastor

A pastor of Yanpha Baptist Church in Wokha district was assaulted by a cadre of the NSCN-Khango faction on August 24 in Naukhuti in Assam.

Chumoukedima, Nagaland, August 25 (HBTV): A pastor of Yanpha Baptist Church in Wokha district was assaulted by a cadre of the NSCN-Khango faction on August 24 in Naukhuti in Assam.   

Accoridng to updates received here from the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) on August 25, the NSCN-Khango cadre identified as one Akhekevi of Kiyezhu B village assaulted the pastor of Yanpha Baptist Church, identified as one Rhanlamo Kikon. The underground activist also fired a pistol at blank-point range with intend to murder, the LSU said in a press release.  

The LSU reminded that such an action violates the Fundamental Rights and dignity of people.

Every individual deserves to live in an environment free from fear, exploitation, and harm, and any form of abuse, the union reminded.      

The students union also reminded that NSCN-Khango faction not to enlist in its ranks “such unpatriotic and mentally ill anti-Naga individuals” who are “self-vested in act of terrorism and doesn’t understand the notion of ‘Nagaland for Christ’.” 

The LSU has demanded that the authorities take the issue seriously and award befitting punishment to the accused person at the earliest.
